Facilitated by Dan Dewalt and Laurie Rabut, this eight-week program lays a foundation for participants to grow into restorative facilitators who bring healing to communities large and small. • What can I expect?

The takeaways and directions of this program will depend on the group size, interests and engagement of the participants, learning styles, weather, and everything else. Every session is different, and our facilitators focus on being flexible and adapting to the needs of all involved. That being said, there are a few key things we hope you will come away with at the end of our time together:

    • A working understanding of “restorative consciousness” and restorative practices.

    • A working understanding of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as it applies to restorative work.

    • A working understanding of the Restorative Circle Conference process and the facilitation skills required.

    • Experience with facilitating the pre-circle “Intake” and Restorative Circle Conference.

Our learning will involve a combination of discussions, exercises, roleplays, external resources and practice, and more. We strive to meet the needs of every participant, so please don’t hesitate to speak up if anything could be working better for you!

  • Do I need experience?

You already have it! Restorative practice is not an exclusive category. Providing a listening ear for a friend is a restorative practice. Expanding your worldview is a restorative practice. Being kind is a restorative practice. I could go on, but to answer the question, you don’t need any experience you don’t already have.
